A couple of major postseason competitions will take place in Stillwater in a couple of years. Then, a year later, Oklahoma State will play host to March Madness via ties with the BOK Center in Tulsa.

OSU was chosen by the NCAA to host a 2027 men’s golf regional and the 2027 Division-I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships in Stillwater. Then the first two rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will take place at BOK Center in Tulsa 2028, with OSU serving as the host institution.

“The first and second rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament represent one of the best four-day stretches on the American sporting calendar,” OSU athletic director Chad Weiberg said in a release. “We’re excited to host at the BOK Center.”

OSU’s Karsten Creek has hosted several regional and championship events, including in 2018 when the Cowboys earned the national championship.

OSU’s Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course was the location of the 2020 and 2022 NCAA championships, as well as the 2021 Big 12 Championship and the 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional. Both of those events will also be back in Stillwater in 2025 and 2026.

“We are incredibly proud of our course and so appreciative of the Greiner Family for providing us with the opportunity to bring the best cross country meet in the world back to Stillwater,” OSU Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith said. “We also want to the thank the NCAA Track & Field and Cross Country Committee for their confidence in our ability to host a great championship event.”

While hosting major events may be old hat for the golf and cross country programs, this will be the first time that OSU hoops has played host to March Madness.

The BOK Center housed the first and second rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2011, 2017 and 2019. The venue also hosted the NCAA Wrestling Championships alongside OSU in 2023.
