Oklahoma State Wins 10 Games in Three Straight Years for the First Time Ever
I thought Yves Batoba said it best on Thursday.
Ending the season 10-3 with a win is a WHOLE lot better than 9-4. Great career, seniors.

It feels like three games better instead of just one. After beating Virginia Tech 30-21 in the Camping World Bowl on Thursday, OSU racked up its third straight 10-3 season. That’s pertinent because it’s just the ninth time it’s ever happened and the first time it’s happened three years in a row.
It’s a testament to OSU’s seniors, too, specifically Mason Rudolph and James Washington. Rudolph leaves Stillwater as the all-time leader in wins by a starting QB and goes out 32-9 in his career.
“The seniors have led this program to three straight 10-win seasons,” Mike Gundy said to ESPN in the aftermath of Thursday’s win. “They should be very proud of that. Can’t say enough about our quarterback-wideout combination and obviously Justice Hill.”
Gundy has been a part of every 10-win season as either the QB or head coach except for 1984 when the Pokes took home the Gator Bowl. Incredibly, six of these 10-win seasons have happened since 2010.
Year | Record | Bowl |
---|---|---|
2011 | 12-1 | Fiesta Bowl — W |
2010 | 11-2 | Alamo Bowl — W |
2017 | 10-3 | Camping World Bowl — W |
2016 | 10-3 | Alamo Bowl — W |
2015 | 10-3 | Sugar Bowl — L |
2013 | 10-3 | Cotton Bowl — L |
1988 | 10-2 | Holiday Bowl — W |
1987 | 10-2 | Sun Bowl — W |
1984 | 10-2 | Gator Bowl — W |
I know this year was a disappointment. I don’t think anyone denies that. But look at the company OSU is keeping right now in terms of 10-win seasons since 2010 (* denotes still a game left to bump up a number).
Alabama: 8
OU: 7
Ohio State: 7
Stanford: 6*
Oklahoma State: 6
Florida State: 6
Wisconsin: 6
Clemson: 6
Boise State: 6
Michigan State: 5*
That’s pretty incredible and yet another reason why it was so important for OSU to win the Hokey-Pokey Bowl in Orlando on Thursday.
