For the third time in the Mike Gundy era, Oklahoma State has an All-American running back.

Ollie Gordon earned All-America honors from Pro Football Focus and CBS Sports on Wednesday. The nation’s leading rusher, Gordon has 1,614 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns this season. He has also caught 37 passes for 326 yards and another touchdown.

Gordon joins Chuba Hubbard (2019) and Kendall Hunter (2008 and 2010) as All-American running backs under Gundy. Gordon is the ninth All-American back in OSU’s history, also joining Bob Fenimore (1944 and 1945), Terry Miller (1976 and 1977), Earnest Anderson (1982), Thurman Thomas (1985, 1986 and 1987), Barry Sanders (1988) and Gerald Hudson (1990).

That’s some elite company for Gordon, but he has the opportunity to set himself apart from the pack if he can win the Doak Walker, an award given to the best running back in college football. No OSU player has won the award since it started being handed out in 1990.

Gordon rushed for at least 100 yards in eight of OSU’s games this season (all of those came after OSU used a committee approach in the first three games of the year). His October was particularly ridiculous. Here is a game-by-game look at what he did that month:

Kansas State: 21 carries, 136 yards, one touchdown
Kansas: 29 carries, 168 yards, six catches, 116 yards, two total touchdowns
West Virginia: 29 carries, 282 yards, four touchdowns
Cincinnati: 25 carries, 271 yards, two touchdowns

This adds to a list of honors Gordon has received throughout the season joining the most notable of being a Doak Walker finalist and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
