It’s “wake up at four in the morning to catch the midday tee times” time of the year again and plenty of OSU fellas are in the hunt at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

Here are the odds going into tomorrow:

Tiger – 4/1
Field (anyone else) – 7/1
Rory – 10/1
Westwood – 15/1
Donald – 15/1
Sergio – 30/1
McDowell – 30/1
Mahan – 40/1
Mickelson – 40/1
Fowler – 40/1
Bubba – 50/1
Kuchar – 60/1
Van Pelt – 60/1
Howell – 150/1
Noren – 150/1

Fowler has gone T14 and T5 the last two years at the Open and the things he does well – ball striking, greens in regulation, and staying steady – are all things Open championships rewards. The kids, I believe, (and Tony Allen) call them grinders.

The rest of the Cowboys, including Mahan (missed 3 of 4 cuts), Van Pelt (never better than 30th), Noren (missed last two cuts), and Howell (missed 4 of 5 cuts) have never had much luck across the pond.

The Big Lead had an interesting post on the fact that we’ve had nine straight major winner and I wouldn’t rule out the man with the orange driver making that number 10.

Picks

Head: Luke Donald
Heart: Fowler
