The Opening Recap: Tylan Wallace Makes Strong Impression in Beaverton
The premier athletic event in the recruiting world concluded on Sunday. The Opening, which hosts the top prospects from around the country, holds individual and team drills, teaching and meetings from highly regarded athletes such as Ndamukong Suh, Todd Gurley, and others, and even a 7-on-7 competition between the campers.
Oklahoma State was represented by one recruit, Fort Worth receiver Tylan Wallace. And he represented well.
Even before the entire camp arrived at Nike Headquarters, he was already doing insane things like this one-handed snag.

And his strong performance on the first day continued, too, while drawing praise from scouts. Barton Simmons, 247sports Director of Recruiting had this to say about Tylan: “Tylan Wallace has been one of the best WR’s so far.”

And onto day 2, he drew comparisons to Odell Beckham Jr. from ESPNU.
THAT HAND THOUGH.

Tylan was placed on Team Fly Rush, where he was the No. 11 ranked player on his own team(!). For comparisons sake, he’s the No. 1 ranked commitment for OSU in the 2017 class.
Tylan was paired with two very talented quarterbacks on his roster: Texas commit Sam Ehlinger, and Stanford commit Davis Mills.
The overall team pairing, however, could have been convenient for OSU, too. Wallace was paired with standout running back Chase Hayden, a long time Arroyo target whom the Cowboys view highly. He has OSU in his top 5.
And two other prospects, who are currently committed elsewhere but have, at one time, been viewed as OSU leans were also on the same team as Wallace. Nacogdoches defensive back Josh Thompson and Bishop Gorman safety Bubba Bolden, who are committed to TCU and USC, respectively.
While OSU had just one recruit on hand at The Opening, it was a strong showing for Wallace who says he’s now focused on getting ready for the upcoming season with South Hills High School in Fort Worth.
Had fun @TheOpening now it's time to head back to the #817 and get back to work ??? pic.twitter.com/LYN6690RoJ
