After sharing a Big 12 regular season title, the Cowboys have given themselves a chance to earn the league’s tournament title outright.

After beating Texas Tech earlier in the day to force an if-necessary game, Oklahoma State beat Tech 6-5 on Saturday evening via an Aidan Meola walk-off home run to advance to Sunday’s final.

Meola came to the plate with the game tied at 5 with one out in the bottom of the ninth. He sent a 2-1 pitch over the left-field fence at Globe Life Field. It completed a Cowboy comeback win that saw OSU down 5-0 entering the bottom of the eighth.

The Cowboys plated five in that eighth inning, starting with a two-run shot from Beau Sylvester. Later in the inning Colin Brueggemann scored on a wild pitch before Carson Benge singled to score Tyler Wulfert and David Mendham to tie the game.

The bullpen trio of Isaac Stebens, Michael Benzor and Gabe Davis held things down for the final four innings. Stebens started it, throwing three of those innings where he kept the Red Raiders scoreless off two hits and two walks while striking out four.

A freshman, Benzor started the ninth where he struck out the first batter he faced before a fielding error put a runner on. Davis then came to the bump. He gave up a single but then slammed the door with back-to-back strikeouts to set up Meola’s walk-off homer.

The win is big for the Cowboys in a few ways. To start, it gives OSU a shot at another Big 12 trophy. But it also betters the Pokes’ NCAA Tournament resume as OSU looks to host an NCAA Regional at O’Brate.

The Cowboys will play TCU for the league title at 5 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU.
