The Cowboys took care of business again on Sunday, leading to their second series sweep of the season.

Oklahoma State defeated UCF 10-6 at O’Brate Stadium. The Pokes led 6-0 after three and held a 10-2 edge going into the eighth before the Knights attempted a rally.

Brock Thompson (1-for-3), Colin Brueggemann (2-for-4) and Jayson Jones (2-for-4) and all went yard early, creating a big lead the Knights weren’t able to overcome.

Thompson smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to put the Cowboys on the board.

Then Brueggemann and Jones crushed a pair of long balls on back-to-back at-bats for three more runs to make it 4-.0

UCF got on the board in the top of the fourth thanks to a fielder’s choice and throwing error, but the Cowboys answered right back with four more runs thanks to a RBIs by Brueggemann, Jones and Kollin Ritchie (2-for-4).

The Knights would make things interesting in the eighth with three more runs, one on another throwing error. Then they’d pull within 10-6 on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the ninth, but the Cowboys were able to stop the bleeding and hold on for the win.

Sean Youngerman got the start from the mound and moved to 3-1 on the season, pitching five innings and striking out six while allowing two runs. It took six Cowboy pitchers in total to seal the win with Matt Brown earning the save thanks to a 4-3 double play.

With the win, OSU moves to 22-21 overall and 10-11 in league play. The Cowboys kicked the series off with a 12-0 win on Friday, followed by a 3-1 victory Saturday. They head to Waco next weekend for their penultimate Big 12 series against Baylor.
