BOX SCORE

The Cowboys are on their first winning streak of 2024.

Oklahoma State handled Michigan 9-3 on Friday at Globe Life Field in Arlington for its third straight win since dropping its first two games of the season. The victory improved the Cowboys to 3-2 to get above .500 for the first time this season.

The Cowboys never trailed Friday after plating two in the second thanks to Nolan Schubart’s 433-feet two-run bomb that also scored Colin Brueggemann, who singled to get on. Neither team budged after that until Michigan finally got one across in the top of the fifth to cut OSU’s advantage in half.

OSU then exploded for five runs in the sixth inning on only three hits. With bases loaded, a wild pitch scored Tyler Wulfert for the first run of the inning. Aidan Meola then hit a sac fly to left field to score Brueggemann to have Michigan’s tally doubled again, 4-2. Carson Benge did the most damage in the inning with a two-RBI single while bases were loaded.

Michigan tried to claw back with two runs in the next frame, but the Cowboys immediately matched it in the bottom half. Kollin Ritchie and Ian Daugherty both had sac flies to each get in a run.

Four Cowboy pitchers stepped on the mound, as starter Sam Garcia got the win after throwing 5 1/3 innings, giving up one run and a walk and striking out six. Two-way standout Carson Benge finished things off with a perfect inning while striking out two of the three batters he saw.

After wins against Abilene Christian and Michigan to start action in the Kubota College Baseball Series, the festival only gets more challenging for the Cowboys. OSU gets No. 2 Arkansas at 7 p.m. Saturday before playing Oregon State on Sunday.
