OSU Baseball: Cowboys Land UC Santa Barbara Transfer Pitcher Hudson Barrett
The Cowboys add a touted arm from the transfer portal.
The Cowboys added a touted and experienced arm to their bullpen.
Former UC Santa Barbara pitcher Hudson Barrett committed to Oklahoma State, according to D1 Baseball. The southpaw has spent the last three seasons with the Gauchos, but injuries have limited him for the better part of his career.
Barrett earned a slew of honors as a freshman in 2023 including being named an NCBWA Third-Team All-American as well as being an NCBWA All-Freshman first teamer. The list is too long to mention but it also includes Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year and a handful of all-freshman nominations.
His next two seasons didn’t go as smoothly. Barrett was held to just two appearances on the mound in 2024 and three in 2025 due to an arm injury and an elbow injury, respectively. He underwent Tommy John surgery last season.
Barrett boasts a career ERA of 2.12 and is 6-2 with 90 strikeouts after 26 total appearances.
The Cowboys suffered through injuries and a slow start to finish the season 8-1 and make the NCAA Tournament. They fell 3-2 in the Athens Regional.
