For the first time since starting the season 0-0, the Cowboys are at .500.

Oklahoma State beat Abilene Christian 8-4 on Wednesday night in its first of four games this week at Globe Life Field in Arlington. After starting its season with a pair of losses, OSU has recovered with two wins before entering a gauntlet in the Lone Star State that includes Michigan, Arkansas and Oregon State within three days.

The Cowboys started quick Wednesday night with three runs in the first inning, but that didn’t put the game away early for them. ACU put up one the next frame before putting together a three-run inning of its own in the second to take the lead, 4-3.

Brennan Phillips gave up all four of ACU’s runs before Aaron Weber came in in the third to throw two perfect innings as the Cowboys mounted their comeback. Weber ultimately got the win despite only two innings of work.

Aidan Meola hit a double in a gap to score Nolan Schubart and tie the game in the third. Meola was also responsible for two of OSU’s runs in the first with a two-RBI single to left field. He finished the game 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Schubart was just as hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run.

Zach Ehrhard gave OSU the lead with a sac fly that scored Lane Forsythe in the fourth. The Cowboys then added three more in the seventh.

After Weber left the game after the fourth with the lead, the Cowboys continued to shut ACU down by committee, as Gabe Davis got two innings, Ryan Bogusz got one, Drew Blake got 1 1/3 and Robert Cranz finished the night with 2/3.

Now back at .500 having not faced a Power Five opponent yet, OSU will get a day off before playing Michigan at 3 p.m. Friday again in Globe Life Field.
