OSU Basketball: Brady Priess Works Way Up from Manager to Assistant Director of Scouting

An Oklahoman has been working his way up the Cowboys’ basketball staff across the past few years.

Oklahoma State basketball on Thursday announced that Brady Priess has been elevated to the Cowboys’ Assistant Director of Scouting.

A Claremore native, Priess joined the Cowboys as a student manger in 2019 and served as OSU’s head manager for the 2022-23 season. Mike Boynton promoted Priess to a graduate assistant in his final year in Stillwater, and Lutz retained Priess in that role last season. In all, this upcoming season will be Priess’ seventh with the program.

“Brady is a Loyal and True Cowboy who has earned this opportunity through outstanding work and unwavering dependability,” Lutz said. “He’s got a great eye for detail and a real passion for the game. No question he’s one of the rising stars in this profession.”

Priess’ new role will be to help evaluate players in the transfer portal, in the high school ranks and international prospects, and he’ll play a role in managing the program’s internal recruiting database and relationships with third-party scouting services. Priess will also help with opponent scouting during the season, coordinating prospect visits, practice analytics and film breakdown.

Priess is a two-time OSU grad, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in finance and minors in accounting and energy business in 2023. He completed his masters of interdisciplinary studies at OSU this past May.
