In spite of the dark shadow of NCAA sanctions that’s clouded Payne County over the last week plus, Mike Boynton is looking past the horizon.

Boynton has been doling out high-end offers seemingly by the hour since his program got hammered last week. During a trying situation, he’s apparently fallen back on one of the things he does best, recruiting. And that might just pay off.

On Tuesday night, Ramel Lloyd Jr., a four-star forward out of California, announced an OSU offer via his Twitter account.

“After a great talk with Head Coach Mike Boynton I’m excited to have received an offer from Oklahoma State University.”

Lloyd is the junior of Ramel Lloyd Sr., the former college hooper who played at Syracuse and Long Beach State.

Let’s take a look at what else we know about Lloyd.

In the Rankings

Lloyd is a four-star prospect and No. 22 small forward in the 2022 class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. 247Sports’ own rankings tabs him as the No. 57 overall prospect and the 16th-ranked small forward in the cycle.

And ESPN ranks Lloyd at No. 51 prospect in its 2022 Top 60 of juniors and Scout calls him the No. 10 small forward in the class.

Others Interested

Lloyd boasts offers from 16 other schools including Kansas, Georgetown, St. Johns, USC, and others. He collected an offer from Brad Underwood and Illinois one day before Boynton extended his.

His Fit

While most publications report Lloyd as a forward or wing, Lloyd emphatically tabs himself as a scoring, combo guard. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound junior has honed his skills as a point/combo guard but can play almost anywhere. Wherever he ends up on the court, his athleticism, scoring and playmaking ability will only add value at the next level.
