OSU Quarterback Commit Jett Niu Flips to Oklahoma on Signing Day
The Sooners made a late push at OSU’s committed quarterback.
Bedlam might be gone for a while on the gridiron, but it apparently hasn’t left the recruiting trail.
Oklahoma State quarterback commit Jett Niu signed with Oklahoma on Wednesday, the morning after he announced he received an offer to play at Oklahoma from Sooners coach Brent Venables and new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle. Niu, out of Lehi, Utah, had been committed to OSU since September, decommitting from Appalachian State to do so. OU officially announced Arbuckle’s hiring on Monday. Niu previously had an offer from Washington State, where the Sooners hired Arbuckle away from.
“After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided to decommit from Oklahoma State and commit to the University of Oklahoma,” Niu tweeted. “I am incredibly grateful for the amazing support and opportunities I received from Oklahoma State and their coaching staff. Thank you for believing in me and helping me grow.”
Trying to recover from a rough first season in the SEC, OU lost four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry to Florida State in November, leaving the Sooners’ 2025 class without a quarterback until Niu’s signing.
247Sports considers Niu the No. 58 quarterback in the class, making him the No. 14 player out of Utah. He led Lehi High School to a 9-3 record as a senior. Niu’s Pioneers fell in overtime in the state semifinals to eventual champions Corner Canyon. In that semifinal matchup, Niu threw for 369 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. On the season, Niu completed 57% of his passes for 2,857 yards and 29 touchdowns to 10 picks. He also ran for 66 yards and three scores.
