OSU Recruiting: Cowboys Make Pair of New Offers in 2021, 2022

A RB and OL from Texas and Louisiana have new OSU offers.

Oklahoma State made a pair of new scholarship offers this week as it continues to build toward 2021 and 2022.

The first was the biggest: 6-foot-5, 250-pound offensive tackle Will Campbell, from Louisiana, announced earlier this week that offensive line coach Charlie Dickey has extended him an offer. Campbell is from Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana, and a Class of 2022 prospect.

Currently, Campbell is not ranked (yet), but the early interest he’s drummed up suggests that will come soon. Nicholls State, La. Tech and LSU have already offered in addition to OSU.

OSU has had success recruiting Louisiana in recent years by grabbing the likes of Jarrick Bernard, Na’drian Dizadare and Kevin Henry, and Gundy’s recent hiring of Tim Rattay — a Louisiana legend who had immense success playing at La. Tech — should only bolster those efforts. If you’re expecting OSU to beat LSU in a head-to-head recruiting battle I’ll wish you luck — LSU is going to get every in-state recruit it wants so long as Coach O is calling the shots — but I’m fascinated to see this one play out. If Campbell is priority No. 2 for LSU at OT in 2022, OSU could very well win this war by making him feel like he’s the Cowboys’ No. 1 target.

The second offer of the week is to a player who Campbell may one day be opening up running lanes for: 6-foot, 200-pound running back Tavierre Dunlap. Dunlap is a three-star running back from Del Valle, Texas, and a 2021 prospect. OSU offered him on Wednesday — hours after Iowa State offered.

He now holds offers from USC, Iowa State, Colorado, Arkansas, Houston, Cal, Duke and others.

As a junior last season Dunlap rushed for 1,341 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also added 208 receiving yards and three receiving scores.

OSU does not have a commitment at running back in the 2020 cycle and with Chuba Hubbard’s return, it may have the luxury of waiting and prioritizing top-end talent in 2021 with the pitch that early playing time is available in Stillwater.

Campbell is the seventh running back offer already in the 2021 cycle. Here’s a look at the others and their current star-rankings according to 247Sports:

  • Camar Wheaton — ?????
  • Donovan Edwards — ????
  • LJ Johnson — ????
  • Brandon Campbell — ????
  • Cam’Ron Valdez — ?????
  • Tavierre Dunlap — ????
  • Alton McCaskill — NR
