OSU Recruiting: Five-Star Isaiah Todd Picks up Kentucky Basketball Offer
Todd is a 2020 star expected to attempt reclassification into 2019.
Five-star Class of 2020 power forward Isaiah Todd picked up a huge offer this week from the University of Kentucky, which could significantly impede OSU’s chances of pulling the Virginia standout out of the region.
Todd, who is ranked as the No. 13 player in 2020, is considering reclassification into the 2019 class. If he does reclassify, as many expect, he’ll be eligible to play in the 2019 season for whichever program he commits to — and eligible for the 2020 draft, where many expect he’ll be a lottery pick.
OSU has made a strong push throughout Todd’s recruitment to prioritize him. The staff visited him just last week, and he himself has visited Stillwater. But Kentucky might be the godfather offer he can’t refuse; the Wildcats are now expected to land him, according to the 247Sports crystal ball.
It’d be no surprise if UK pulled Todd considering its recent track record of churning out talents to the NBA. Under John Calipari, 35 players have been drafted into the NBA since 2010. 35!
OSU isn’t eliminated until it is *officially* eliminated, but with Kentucky in the mix now and North Carolina and Kansas still vying for a signature, the chances Boynton snags his big fish looks increasingly more unlikely.
The staff likely knows the writing is on the wall, too. With recent offers out to 2019 power forward Julius Marble and junior college big Doudou Gueye, it seems OSU is already at least preparing for the day when Todd eliminates the Pokes from consideration and heads to a blueblood.
