Oklahoma State has extended a scholarship offer to Class of 2022 guard prospect Nick Smith Jr., one of the top recruits in Arkansas.

Smith, a rising 6-3 combo guard from Silvan Hills High School in Arkansas, announced the offer on his Twitter page Tuesday morning. Best I can tell from doing a little digging (because recruiting services haven’t yet created rankings, much less a profile, for him), is that OSU is the second program to offer him. ORU offered back in early September.

Smith Jr. isn’t the first offer for OSU in 2022 (based off what I’ve found, he’s the second), but nonetheless, the offer is notable. He’s probably at least a year away from being eligible to drive a motor vehicle, and yet OSU is already confident enough in his skillset to feel comfortable giving him the keys to the offense in 2022.

Here’s one scouting report on the youngster, which came after he impressed last summer at a Future 150 All-American camp.

“Talk about an impressive weekend for the 5’11” wing prospect. One of the most talented scorers in the field, he was able to get buckets however he wanted. His specialty was making contested jumpers from deep, which included several fadeaways/step-backs with a defender in his face. The Little Rock prospect is wired to score the basketball, and is capable of getting hot at any time. As he continues to fill out and get stronger, he’ll become an even more impressive offensive player. On defense, he needs to become more engaged consistently.” [Future 150]

Smith Jr. is still growing into his new frame — it seems he’s shot up from 5-9 to 6-3 within the last year or so — but he’s a bucket-getter who can score at every level and is still developing his handle for the next level.

Check out some of the highlights from him I found at the aforementioned Future 150 camp last summer.
