OSU Seniors Reflect Ahead of Final Regular-Season Home Game: Jeffrey Carroll

The past couple of years have been one giant rollercoaster for Jeffrey Carroll. Once tabbed as a promising NBA prospect, Carroll has seen his stock slip off NBA mock drafts during what has been somewhat of a disappointing season. With that being said, his career at Oklahoma State has been far from a letdown.

Only 20 Cowboys have scored more points than the kid from Rowlett, Texas, and he’ll more than likely sneak into the teens with a handful of solid performances as his career comes to a close. He has notched eight double-doubles to go with 23 20-point games.

Carroll started only nine games his freshman year and averaged just 3.9 points per game, but he has evolved as a player and a person since first stepping on Stillwater soil.

“I wasn’t very mature because I came in pretty young,” Carroll said. “Just trynna find the right things to do. Build a foundation since Day 1, like getting shots up and doing weights and stuff like that … I didn’t really think that I would make it this far, to be honest. I didn’t think that I would even make it to college, but just coming in that first day you try to see the light for your senior year. At first, you couldn’t see it. But now it’s crazy now that it’s right here. It’s almost over.”

Carroll knows Kansas coach Bill Self hasn’t been swept since becoming the Jayhawks’ coach, and that’s something he’ll try to change when they invade Gallagher-Iba arena for Carroll’s final home game.

Carroll said it’d take 40 minutes of focus, which might be difficult considering all the emotions that’ll occupy his head during the pregame festivities.

Unsure of what his post-OSU goals are, Carroll said he needs to continue to #TrustTheProcess as he tries to go pro.
