OSU Softball: Cowboys Secure Series Win against No. 10 Baylor
This series could be big at the end of the season.
The Cowgirls started Big 12 play this weekend with a big road test, and they picked up a series win.
Oklahoma State beat Baylor 3-2 in the series rubber match to start conference play 2-1. The Cowgirls came back to take this series, as they entered the sixth inning trailing 2-0.
With runners on second and third and no outs, Tallen Edwards hit a chopper to first base. The first baseman threw home, but Mississippi State transfer Macy Graf beat the throw to cut the Bears’ lead in half. But that was all the Cowgirls were able to get in the inning.

After limiting the damage in the sixth, the Bears entered the seventh just three outs from a big series win, but the Cowgirls pulled a Lee Corso and said not so fast.
Caroline Wang started the seventh with a double down the left-field line. Scotland David came in as a pinch runner and advanced to third on a Rosie Davis groundout. Micaela Wark then tied the game with an RBI ground out.
Freshman Tia Warsop then displayed her speed with a two-out bunt single before stealing second, and Megan Bloodworth brought her home with a clutch single to right. After trailing most of the day, the Cowgirls had the lead.

From there, the Cowgirls relied on Lexi Kilfoyl’s arm. The standout senior produced two ground balls to short before ending the game with a strikeout. Kilfoyl pitched the final four innings, where she gave up a run on two hits while striking out three.
It’s early in the conference season, but this series win could be huge for the Cowgirls as it pertains to conference seeding. Baylor was picked to finish fourth in the league, a spot behind the Cowgirls. And not only did the Cowgirls rip two wins away from the Bears, they did it in Waco. The Bears are ranked as high as No. 10 in the various rankings. The Cowgirls are ranked as high as No. 4.
It’s hardly mid-March, and the Cowgirls have already hit the 20-win mark at 20-3. OSU hosts Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. Wednesday before hosting Big 12 newcomer UCF in a three-game series next weekend.
