After a close win in H Town on Friday night, the Cowgirls rolled past Houston on Saturday to clinch the series.

Oklahoma State beat the Cougars 11-0 in just five innings Saturday to clinch its fifth Big 12 series of the season (out of five). OSU advanced to 32-6 on the year and 11-3 in Big 12 play.

The Cowgirls scored in every inning but put quite the bow on things in the fifth.

Sophomore Lexi McDonald stepped to the dish with the bases loaded, and the former Silo standout delivered with a grand slam. It was the Cowgirls’ first grand slam of the season, and it was also part of a huge day for McDonald, who went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs.

McDonald’s other home run was a solo shot in the second, which expanded the Cowgirls’ lead to 4-0 after they opened the day with a three spot in the first.

That first inning saw transfer Jilyen Poullard score off a double from transfer Caroline Wang. Micaela Wark then cleared Wang off the bases with a home run to left. It was Wark’s eighth round-tripper of the season.

Wang then got a home run of her own in the third with a solo shot to left. It was her team-leading 13th home run of the year. Wang finished 2-for-3 with the two RBIs.

Poullard got in on the home-run fun in the fourth with a two-run shot to center that also scored Taylor Anderson. It was Poullard’s fourth home run as a Cowgirl.

So, in total, the Cowgirls hit five home runs, which accounted for 10 of their 11 runs.

Ivy Rosenberry threw all five innings in the circle for OSU. She gave up just two hits while walking one and striking out four in the shutout.

OSU will have a shot at a series sweep starting at 11 a.m. Sunday in Houston.
