OSU Softball: Cowgirls Fall to Kansas 10-1, Head to Rubber Match Sunday
The loss breaks the Cowgirls’ seven-game win streak.
The Cowgirls did the butt-kicking on Friday night but were on the other end of things on Saturday.
No. 16 Oklahoma State fell to Kansas 10-1 in five innings. The Jayhawks hit the ground running and didn’t look back.
Freshman Preslee Downing got the start for the Cowgirls but took her first L of the season. She’s 5-1 on the year, but the Jayhawks had her number on Saturday.
Downing gave up five total runs while facing just five total Jayhawk batters. After a lead-off single and then a double put her in a jam, the next three Jayhawks batted in a run, and the Cowgirls made a pitching change.
RyLee Crandall came in and did get OSU out of the inning but not before KU’s Aynslee Linduff sent the fourth and fifth runs across the plate. She would finish out the game, allowing five runs on 11 hits while walking three with three strikeouts.
The Cowgirls scored their only run in the bottom of the first on a Rosie Davis solo home run, her 12th bomb of the season.

Kansas added a run in the second, three in the third and another in the fourth to go up 10-1. A scoreless fifth for both squads resulted in the mercy rule.
The loss ends a seven-game winning streak for the Cowgirls and ties the weekend series at 1-1 after OSU topped Kansas 8-1 on Friday. The Cowgirls are 36-14 and 15-8 in Big 12 play. The rubber match is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Cowgirl Stadium.
