The Cowgirls played a see-saw of a game with Virginia Tech on Friday morning — that was, until a freshman put an end to it.

Oklahoma State beat Virginia Tech 10-9 at the Clearwater Invitational in Florida after freshman Katie Lott hit a walk-off double that scored Chyenne Factor. It was just the second at-bat of Lott’s career, and it was her first RBI.

The game started with the No. 5 Cowgirls matching the No. 9 Hokies step for step.

Virginia Tech scored two runs in the top of the second. OSU scored two runs in the bottom of the second. Virginia Tech scored a run in the top of the third. OSU scored a run in the bottom of the third. And then the fourth inning happened.

OSU pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl shut the Hokies out in the frame setting up an offensive powder keg. With the bases loaded and no outs, Purdue transfer Rachel Becker singled to right field to score a pair. Superstar freshman Tallen Edwards followed that up with a single to left that scored another run before Kiley Naomi sent a nuke over the left-field wall to cap off the Cowgirls’ six-run inning.

It was Naomi’s second home run of the game after going yard to center in the third. She hit six home runs all of last season, but through seven games this year, Naomi already has three round-trippers.

The Hokies wouldn’t go quietly, though, gobbling up three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to tie things at 9 before Lott walked it off.

The Cowgirls got this Top 10 win without using ace Kelly Maxwell. Kilfoyl, a transfer from Alabama, went five innings where she allowed six runs off 10 hits while striking out two. Freshman Kyra Aycock came on in relief, throwing two innings where she allowed three runs off four hits while striking out one.

OSU is 6-1 on the season with a doubleheader Louisiana and Michigan starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Florida.
