OSU Softball: Cowgirls Go 2-0 on Sunday to Start Michelle Short & Adam Brown Tournament

No. 13 Oklahoma State earned a pair of wins on Sunday, run-ruling SIU-Edwardsville before topping South Dakota State 5-2.
Here’s how things played out.
OSU 10, SIUE 0
The Cowgirls only need five innings to earn their first win of the day.
Megan Bloodworth cracked the seal early with a solo home run in the second inning, the first of two runs scored in the frame. But the Cowgirls’ offense exploded in the third, ripping off seven runs, before capping it with a Micaela Wark solo homer un in the fourth. They had to wait another inning for their run-rule.

In the circle, Ruby Meylan was near perfect.
To match the Cowgirls’ 10 runs, she logged 10 strikeouts, allowing just one hit and no walks in five innings.

OSU 5, SDSU 2
The Cowgirls took a bit longer to get going in Game 2.
South Dakota State struck first, with a pair of solo home runs from Mia Jarecki and Brooke Dumont in the first inning.
OSU scored in the second when Bloodworth stole third and then scored on a throwing error. Wark went yard for the second time Sunday in the third to tie it up.
The Cowgirls took the lead in the sixth when Megan Delgadillo was hit by a pitch, which advanced runners and sent Macy Graf across the plate.
Then Rosie Davis cracked a two-RBI single into center field to cement the win.
RyLee Crandall got the start, pitching four innings. She allowed three hits, two runs and struck out three. Katie Kutz came on in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out five in three innings.
With those wins, the Cowgirls improved to 7-4 on Sunday and will finish out the tournament Monday. OSU squares off against Central Arkansas at noon Monday. They next head to Wichita for the Shocker Invitational which runs Thursday through Friday before their home opener next Sunday against Drake.
