OSU Softball: Cowgirls Pull Off Comeback to Win Series Opener Against Baylor
Ruby threw another complete game, and the Cowgirl offense got going just in time,
Ruby Meylan did that thing where she pitched the whole game and led her team to a win again, and her offense woke up just in time.
Oklahoma State started its series against Baylor with a 4-2 win on Friday night in Waco.
All of the Cowgirls’ runs came in the top of the seventh inning, as they trailed 2-0 going into the final frame.
Rosie Davis got to the plate with one out and the bases loaded when she singled off the wall in right-center. It looked for a second like the fielder might catch the ball, which led to just one run scoring.

But then Lexi McDonald kept it going with a sacrifice fly that scored Macy Graf and tied the game at 2.
Then Amanda Hasler gave the Cowgirls their first lead with a two-RBI triple to right that nearly got out. It was certainly a clutch piece of hitting with two outs.
JUST. LIKE. THAT.

Meylan then slammed the door in the bottom of the seventh, using just nine pitches in the inning to get the three outs she needed. She did get some help by way of this web gem from freshman center fielder Jayelle Austin:

Meylan moved to 22-6 on the year after throwing 103 pitches against the Bears, where she gave up the two runs (one earned) on five hits while walking two and striking out four.
This is the 11th game the Cowgirls have won in a row when Meylan pitches. She’s thrown complete games in her past seven outings.
The Cowgirls are 31-13 this season and looking more and more like an NCAA Regional host as the regular season dwindles. OSU has a shot at clinching the Baylor series Saturday. First pitch is at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
