The Cowgirls got some payback on Saturday, and it only took two hits, by the same batter.

No. 21 Oklahoma State defeated UCF 4-3 on Saturday in Orlando, bouncing back from a 12-6 thumping by the Knights on Friday.

Amanda Hasler took care of all the scoring for the Cowgirls. She smacked her 11th and 12th home runs of the season, each a two-run shot. Hasler had the Cowgirls’ only two hits, but on Saturday that was enough. She currently ranks fifth in the Big 12 in homers.

The first one got the Pokes on the board in the top of the sixth to make it 2-1.

UCF’s Izzy Mertes nailed a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh to tie it at 2 and forced an extra inning. Then Hasler hit her second no-doubter in the eighth to give the Cowgirls the lead for good at 4-2.

Mertes wasn’t done. Her RBI double in the bottom of the eighth pulled the Knights to within 4-3, but Ruby Meylan held on the for the win.

Meylan moved to 17-6 on the year, pitching all eight innings, allowing six hits and three runs. She walked six Knights but also struck out 10.

With the win, the Cowgirls move to 27-15 on the year and 8-8 in Big 12 play. Up next, they’ll return home for a 7 p.m. Wednesday night matchup with No. 3 Texas before heading to Lawrence, Kansas for their penultimate conference series against the Jayhawks next weekend.
