OSU Wrestling: AJ Heeg Flips Commitment from OU to Oklahoma State
Huge news for the Cowboys and John Smith.

A big announcement landed Sunday from wrestling recruit AJ Heeg as the former OU commit announced he will be staying in Stillwater for college and wrestling for the Cowboys.
Heeg, a two-time 6A state champion and member of the 2023 recruiting class, completed his sophomore and junior seasons at Edmond Memorial and moved to Stillwater over the summer. He will wrestle his senior season for the Pioneers.
Heeg was originally committed to OU but reopened his recruitment last week before an official visit to OSU on Saturday. He announced the commitment just one day after his official visit.
Heeg was a Junior National Finalist this summer at Fargo finishing second. His finish was the highest of any Oklahoman in the Junior Boys Division at the tournament. Heeg competed at 182 last season and projects as a college 184-197. Heeg ranks #52 on Willie Saylor’s Senior Big Board. The Cowboys now have the following ranked commitments for the 2023 recruiting class.
- 15. Cael Hughes
- 16. Brayden Thompson
- 36. Jersey Robb
- 52. AJ Heeg
- 198. Sam Smith
