Patriot Cup Celebration
Photo Attribution: US Presswire
As Americans we like to celebrate, even deify, events like the U.S. Open, the NFL Draft, the Final Four, the World Series, among others. To that end, I’m happy that these sporting exhibitions (because in the end, that’s what they are) can serve as a gateway to more important and tangible endeavors.
Enter: the Patriot Cup.
This three-year old golf extravaganza is a two-day event in Owasso, OK at the Patriot Golf Course to honor and support the families of fallen or disabled service members over Memorial Day Weekend.
Bo Van Pelt, Rickie Fowler, and Hunter Mahan are all participants, as well as Ben Crane, Brad Faxon (love your visor, bro), Tom Lehman, and Gary Woodland.
Oh and did I mention Brandon Weeden is one of the “celebrities” playing in it?
Tickets are 35 bones or you have the option of dropping three hundy to attend the gala and watch Rascal Flatts after the golf. OR pay $125 to just attend the concert.
Thankfully all the proceeds for the Rascal Flatts concert will go to the families and not actually Rascal Flatts (kidding! I’m glad they’re helping out!)
All in all, judging from photos like these, it should be an emotional weekend. Hopefully one of the OSU guys will be getting there late Sunday night with the Colonial trophy in tow.
