PFB Picks: How We’re Projecting 2019 Bedlam to Unfold

See how confident PFB staffers are in Bedlam.

It’s Bedlam week and the PFB staff convened to lay out our predictions for this often fickle — always nerve-racking — rivalry games.

We’ve emerged from our turkey day comas just in time to come up with some spicy takes.

Final Score

Kyle Porter: Oklahoma 37 | OSU 20 — Sorry, Pokes don’t down the Sooners with something real on the line. Just doesn’t happen. OSU has scored more than 34 once in Big 12 play. OU has scored less than 34 once. It is what it is.

Kyle Boone: Oklahoma State 41 | Oklahoma 38 — Print the shirts! (Ed. note: They’ve already been printed)

Kyle Cox: Oklahoma State 35 | Oklahoma 42 — I just can’t do it. Or maybe I just don’t want to.

Marshall Scott: Oklahoma 38 | Oklahoma State 28 — I have a lifetime of evidence that supports OSU likely losing this game.

Surprise Impact Player

Kyle Porter: Parnell Motley. I don’t know if it’s a big surprise given that he’s a senior, but I think he catches Dru Brown doing something he’s not capable of doing on Saturday.

Boone: Dru Brown. He just needs to be turnover-free and make the right reads. The defense can (hopefully) do the rest.

Cox: It may not be a huge surprise for OSU fans, but I think Trace Ford has a coming out party in primetime on Saturday. If the Pokes are able to corral the Sooners’ offense, the versatile, exciting freshman will have a hand in it.

Scott: Jelani Woods — I think Saturday will be the day that OSU finally utilizes Jelani Woods for more than a target or two in a game.

OSU Wins if…

Porter: Hurts misses the bus. Other than that, I don’t know … I think the only way OSU has a chance is if it doesn’t turn the ball over a single time and Brown hits on 2+ deep passes (preferably to my large adult son Braydon Johnson).

Boone: OSU wins if it wins the turnover battle by 2+.

Cox: A handsome turnover margin will be tantamount to OSU’s success, for sure. But I’ll also add that the Cowboys need to Let ‘er rip.

Mike Gundy needs to let the mullet fly similar to how he has in recent Bedlams. As a decent underdog — and with what we know about Gundy — conventional wisdom might lead you to expect a kitchen-sink game from the Pokes. I just hope that, with increased confidence in his defense, he doesn’t fall back into his traditionalist, conservative ways.

Scott: If Chuba Hubbard rushes for 200 and OSU wins the turnover battle.
