Oklahoma State dealt with a growing pain or two in its second half against Central Michigan, but the Cowboys are 1-0. To get to 2-0, they’ll have to up the effort against a Power Five team coming off a big win.

Arizona State visits Stillwater on Saturday night after a 40-3 thumping of Northern Arizona. The Sun Devils have a new quarterback who can beat you in multiple ways and myriad playmakers that can get open and cause trouble. Here are our picks for how the Cowboys’ Week 2 game against ASU will go

Marshall Scott

Score Prediction: OSU 42 | ASU 32

Thoughts: When the intensity was there in the first half, I thought the Cowboys’ defense had some good moments. So with this game being tighter throughout, I expect Derek Mason’s group to be a bit more on top of things. With that said, a 42-32 score is a long way from the scores of OSU games last season. I expect Spencer Sanders, Kasey Dunn and the OSU offense to again up the tempo, and I think the Sun Devils will find out these Cowboys are no Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.

Kyle Boone

Score Prediction: OSU 41 | ASU 35

Thoughts: I’m quite confident in OSU’s offense to at least get to 40 after what we saw from the Spencer Sanders-led unit in Week 1 — it feels like Kasey Dunn could piece together a 40-burger in his sleep so long as QB1 is healthy — but I’m less confident in the defense being able to hold ASU at arm’s length. So I’ve got the Pokes winning yet again but perhaps in tighter fashion than expected. I don’t think ASU quarterback Emory Jones is quite capable of picking apart OSU’s secondary the way CMU’s quarterback did a week ago, but the dual threat ability he brings will likely give OSU some fits if the edge rushers can’t persistently provide pressure. Ultimately, OSU wins and does so in wire-to-wire fashion, but it’s a close shave that leaves us with more questions than answers.

Kyle Cox

Score Prediction: OSU 45 | ASU 32

Thoughts: The Cowboys defense settles in a bit in Week 2 and the Pokes offense continues to hum. Emory Jones is one to watch, but I think some of the first-start jitters have been worked out and the Cowboys’ backend patrols the field better this Saturday. I also predict another big game for Spencer Sanders and a very quotable postgame from both Mike Gundy and Herm Edwards.
