PFB Picks: Oklahoma State-Iowa State

Published

on

Bedlam is gone, and we’re finally over it (sort of). Anyway, on to Iowa State and our picks for Oklahoma State’s 10th game of the season.

Kyle Porter

Pick: Iowa State 35-30
Spread: Iowa State covers
Player of the Game: Allen Lazard

This is a culture game to me. Coming off Bedlam in the rain and cold in Ames with James Washington operating at a percentage less than 100. Gundy keeps pumping culture, and it will take every bit of OSU’s this weekend to take this game. I just think it’s an awful spot for the Cowboys against maybe the best defense they’ve seen all year.

Iowa State has held every Big 12 team below their expected point output this season. So the question for me within the game is whether Iowa State will score enough. They’ll get stops. They’ll probably hold OSU to 25-40, but can they score that much? Can they pull off a trick play or two to steal some points? I say yes, but I hope no.

Kyle Boone

Pick: OSU 38-19
Spread: OSU covers
Player of the Game: Justice Hill

This is a potential letdown spot after an emotionally-gutting loss to OU, but I think OSU handles its business here and throttles the Cyclones. Justice Hill will pick up where he left off and run wild, even against a stingy Iowa State squad that’s been solid against the run.

Kyle Cox

Pick: OSU 35, ISU 31
Spread: ISU covers
Player of the Game: Justice Hill

I think the Cowboys do throw it around a bit despite the weather (from here on out, Gundy is coaching like he’s down 14 at the beginning of the fourth quarter). But he will still ride maybe his best offensive player (???) and Hill has something like 150 on the ground and 50 in the air on check-downs with a couple of scores.

Ryan Harris

Pick: Oklahoma State 45 Iowa State 35
Spread: OSU covers
Player of the Game: Tyron Johnson

With Washington banged up, expect Tyron Johnson to step up again and have a big day. Washington may or may not play tomorrow, but Johnson will have a big day either way. The Pokes will either come out flat, or they’ll come out with a vengeance. I believe they’ll get up for this game, with the hope that either OU or TCU will lose two of their last three, giving OSU a path to the Big 12 championship game.

Justin Southwell

Pick: Oklahoma State 21-17
Spread: Oklahoma State does not cover
Player of the Game: Justice Hill

OSU has played Iowa State uncomfortably close in the past couple of years, so I don’t expect this year to be any different. I was already worried about this game before Iowa State knocked off OU and TCU. I still think the Pokes will be able to dig deep and finish strong this season, even if this is an ugly game.

Nick Welch

Pick: Oklahoma State 31 – 20
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the Game: Justice Hill

Looks like a cold and rainy day in Ames. I’m looking for Justice and J.D. to get plenty of touches in this highly important game for the Cyclones. OSU’s defense rebounds from last week and keeps Montgomery under 100 yards on the ground.
