PFB Picks: Predictions for Oklahoma State’s Game against No. 6 Oregon
Predicting the score, OSU’s MVP and the unis.
If the Cowboys come back from this weekend’s trip to the Pacific Northwest at 2-0, it’ll mean one of the biggest wins in OSU’s history took place.
Oklahoma State travels to Eugene for a matchup against No. 6 Oregon. Here is how we see this game playing out.
Marshall Scott
Score: Oregon 34, Oklahoma State 17
OSU MVP: Gavin Freeman
Uniform: Orange (Cursive Cowboys) – White – Orange
Thoughts: Considering OSU’s offense had some struggles running the ball against UT-Martin, I think this is a bad spot for the Cowboys to be headed with a quarterback set to make his first career start. I think there will be some bright spots and some reason for optimism moving forward, but the Ducks will keep the Pokes are arm’s length.
I went with Gavin Freeman as my OSU MVP because I think Doug Meacham will keep scheming up creative ways to get him in space.
As for the uniform: given this is the first time in a long time OSU has played a football game on CBS, I think the Pokes will want to show off some orange.
Kyle Cox
Score: Oregon 42, Oklahoma State 21
OSU MVP: Terrill Davis
Uniform: White (Cursive) – White – Orange
Thoughts: I think the Cowboys might be on the right track on a few fronts, but these are two programs at different stages, unfortunately.
That being said, while I don’t pick the Pokes to win, I think a little underdog, kitchen-sink playcalling might allow for some points. We saw a glimpse of Zane Flores’ ability to throw downfield. I think we goes back to his deep threat, TD, in Eugene.
Tyler Waldrep
Score: Oregon 48, Oklahoma State 17
OSU MVP: Christian Fitzpatrick
Uniform: Black (brand) – White – Black
Thoughts: I think Oklahoma State’s inability to run the ball consistently will prevent the offense from keeping things close in this one. The defense will have some bright spots in the first half, and I think Jaleel Johnson could be a sneaky MVP pick here when Oregon sells out to block Wendell Gregroy. I went with Christian Fitzpatrick because he was a centerpiece to last week’s game plan, even if he didn’t get the targets, and because Gundy keeps talking, unprompted, about the need to get him the ball.
