The Cowboys will play in Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday for the last time in 2023.

Oklahoma State hosts BYU at 2:30 p.m. on ABC in a game that both teams have high stakes in. A win for the Pokes likely puts Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game. A win for BYU makes the Cougars bowl eligible. This is how we see the game playing out.

Score: Oklahoma State 42, BYU 31

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: Black (Pete)-Orange-White

Thoughts: BYU doesn’t appear to be all that great, but the Cougars have quite a bit to play for Saturday, as a loss ends their season and a win extends it. Still, I think the Cowboys have more to play for, and I’m not sure BYU’s offense (averaging 22.1 points a game) can keep up with Ollie Gordon, Alan Bowman and the Cowboys.

I’m interested to see what Brennan Presley’s other-worldly performance in Houston does to BYU’s gameplan. Do the Cougars dare focusing the attention on anyone not named Ollie Gordon? It’s a good spot for OSU to be in.

As for the uniforms, there have been quite a bit of tricolor looks this season, but none in black-orange-white. That combo hasn’t been broken out since Senior Day last season.

Score: Oklahoma State 38, BYU 28

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: White (Brand)-Black-White

Thoughts: In a must-win for the Cowboys, they face the worst offense in the Big 12 whose best option at QB is not 100% healthy. What could go wrong? I do think the Cowboys get it done and punch their ticket to Arlington — assuming a Texas win. Not that there’s a dearth of motivation, but add in the fact that Ollie Gordon is currently tied for the rushing title heading into the Pokes’ 12th game. Win, and he’ll get an extra game to seal it.

Score: Oklahoma State 45, BYU 27

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: Black (Brand)-Orange-White

Thoughts: There’s a lot on the line for the Pokes. The Cowboy faithful knows that it’s the hope that kills you. But ever since Bedlam, even after that UCF debacle, there’s just something unique about this team. Plus, I had OSU finishing the regular season at 9-3 in my preseason predictions in August. And I love being right.

Ollie Gordon has a day after two weeks away from Boone Pickens Stadium. And I mean a heckuva day. They might even give him the Doak Walker postgame. And if Gordon has a good day, the Pokes win. Always. Don’t make plans for Dec. 2.
