Well, it’s that time of the week where we predict another Oklahoma State football game.

The Cowboys host Kansas State at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium with both teams coming off open weeks. Here is how we see the game playing out.

Marshall Scott

Score: Kansas State 31, Oklahoma State 17

OSU Player of the Game: Zane Flores

Uniform: Orange (Patriot Pete) — Black — Orange

Thoughts: The offense looked as capable as it had all season in Lawrence, so I’m looking forward to seeing what OSU comes up with out of this bye week with the extra time Zane Flores and quarterback coach-turned-OC Kevin Johns have had.

I think there is a world where this game is close, but that would require OSU putting it all together. The defense has looked good in stretches since Clint Bowen took over the play calling. Then the offense hit a new peak in Lawrence. But it seems like those two things haven’t co-existed this season. Is Saturday the day? Recent history would say no, but coming out of an open week would probably be a good time for it to.

Score: Kansas State 31, Oklahoma State 21

OSU Player of the Game: Rodney Fields Jr.

Uniform: Black (Brand)-Orange-White

Thoughts: I’m hopeful that the Cowboys’ offense will be even better this week than in Flores’ return, but I see that coming from a bounce-back performance from Fields. The Pokes need a win, but the Wildcats need one more.

Tyler Waldrep

Score: Kansas State 34, Oklahoma State 28

OSU Player of the Game: Zane Flores

Uniform: Black (Brand) — Orange — Orange

Thoughts: OSU’s ability to win a close game probably lies on how much the defense improved with its first bye week under interim coordinator Clint Bowen who has been going pretty much non-stop since taking over after the loss to Baylor.

The offense is primed to score a season-high points. Quarterback Zane Flores had something of a breakout performance at Kansas two weeks ago. That puts him in a good headspace with an extra week of practice so he should continue to progress at the position this week. Plus, look for a few tricks this week since interim coach Doug Meacham had the extra time to scheme.
