The Cowboys’ blowout loss in Orlando last week has taken away any margin for error the Pokes had if they want to get to Arlington.

Oklahoma State plays Houston at 3 p.m. Saturday at TDECU Stadium. The Cowboys are part of a four-way tie for second place in the Big 12, but should the favorites win out over the next two weeks, the Cowboys would be awarded a spot in the Big 12 title game. Here is how we see the Cowboys’ trip to Houston playing out.

Marshall Scott

Score: Oklahoma State 31, Houston 21

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: Black (Pete)-White-Black

Thoughts: The Cowboys got throttled last week, but given it came a week after winning Bedlam in an Orlando monsoon, I’m still willing to say the Pokes head down to H Town and get the job done. I look for OSU’s rushing attack to make amends for a woeful performance last week. The Cowboys still have a lot to play for. They’re still in solid standing to make the Big 12 title game and, though his Heisman campaign might be over, Ollie Gordon can still win the Doak Walker — an award no OSU back has won before.

Kyle Cox

Score: Oklahoma State 25, Houston 21

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: Orange (Cursive)-White-Orange

Thoughts: I’m dialing back the optimism I had for the Cowboys living in the 30s and up. Hopefully for OSU’s sake, last week was just an aberration and they’ll prove me wrong. Either way, the Pokes are up against it now. I think they get it done and remain a part of the convoluted Big 12 title race, which would also make Senior Day a much bigger deal for the fans.

We haven’t seen O-W-O yet in the new uniform kit, and we’re running out of chances. If we don’t see it, it will be a shame.

Score: Oklahoma State 38, Houston 24

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: White (Pete) – White – White

Thoughts: Dana Holgorsen knows football, so I’m going with what he said about OSU earlier this week, “You can take that and throw that game away — last week.” I believe the UCF game was more of a fluke than the five-game winning streak. Ollie Gordon won’t be shut down again. Alan Bowman will take care of the football (and so will Gordon). The defense will slow Houston down enough to win the game pretty comfortably.

The Pokes can still go to Arlington and play for a Big 12 title. They won’t be hung up from the week before again because everything at stake now is ahead.
