The Cowboys are headed to Fort Worth with about as much on the line as they’ve had all season.

Oklahoma State will take on TCU in its penultimate road game of the season at 6 p.m. Saturday. Win, and the Pokes stay alive in an effort to extend the bowl streak to 19 years. Lose, and they won’t. On the other hand, the 5-4 Horned Frogs would secure a bowl after missing one last season.

The PFB staff got together to pontificate on the Cowboys’ must-win and here’s how we see things playing out.

Marshall Scott

Score: TCU 31, Oklahoma State 28

OSU MVP: Brennan Presley

Uniform: Orange (Cursive)-White (Black)-Black

Thoughts: This game is better from a matchup standpoint than OSU has had in a while. Sure, based on records, the Horned Frogs are a better team, but TCU ranks 101st nationally in rush defense (an area the OSU offense struggles at). And the Horned Frogs prefer to throw the ball, with the nation’s fifth-best passing game compared to the 123rd-best rush offense (an area the OSU defense has struggled to stop). With that being said, it’s tough for me to pick the Pokes given I’ve watched them lose six in a row, but I think they’ll at least cover.

Score: TCU 31, Oklahoma State 28

OSU MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: White (Cursive)-White-Black

Thoughts: OSU’s rushing output has been varying shapes of disappointing all season, but TCU’s defense is ranked 15th in the league against the run and third against the pass. In a bit of an optimistic stretch, that might work out for the Cowboys. Still, OSU has not shown it’s capable of winning in the Big 12 and TCU was a walk-off field goal away from being on a three-game win streak. I gotta pick against the Pokes until they prove me wrong.

Score: TCU 34, Oklahoma State 21

OSU MVP: Brennan Presley

Uniform: Black (Brand)-White (Orange)-Orange

Thoughts: This is the Cowboys’ best chance left to tally a Big 12 win. A loss would erase any chances of OSU extending its bowl streak. A loss would also guarantee a losing record for the Cowboys. All that plays into OSU’s favor with a lot on the line. But this team cannot win another football game with this defense, even if its bowl streak’s life depended on it. The Horned Frogs haven’t ran the ball all season, so expect them to have their best day of the season. The only silver lining left is hoping OSU gets far enough behind that Brennan Presley gets fed and breaks a record.
