Even with a three-way dance at quarterback, the Cowboys could still end nonconference play 3-0 should they beat South Alabama this week.

Oklahoma State hosts the Jaguars at 6 p.m. Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium. OSU is 2-0 with wins over Central Arkansas and Arizona State, while South Alabama is 1-1, falling to Tulane before beating Southeast Louisiana.

Here are predictions for Saturday’s matchup.

Marshall Scott

Score: Oklahoma State 27, South Alabama 14

Game MVP: De’Zhaun Stribling

Uniform: White (Cursive), Black, White

Thoughts: The Cowboys have scored 27 points in each of their first two games, so why not make it 3-for-3? Meanwhile, I don’t know that — with some injuries — South Alabama has the firepower to keep up with the Pokes, even with OSU’s disjointed offense.

De’Zhaun Stribling has lived up to the billing through two games — no matter who was throwing him the ball. He had 10 targets last week, catching seven passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. With the quarterbacks and running backs rotating, I think Stribling stands out in the game and on the stat sheet to take home an MVP.

Kyle Cox

Score: Oklahoma State 35, South Alabama 10

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: Black (Cursive), Black, White

Thoughts: After back-to-back 27-point outings, I think the Pokes finally get over that 30-point hump, and they do so on the ground.

I’m assuming the run game renaissance we saw at halftime last weekend means the Cowboys have started to figured things out on the ground. (It would be helpful as they continue the QB carousel). Let’s hope so because that’s the drum Gundy & Co. was beating all offseason, and on the other side of South Bama is a trip to Ames.

Dekota Gregory

Score: Oklahoma State 31, South Alabama 13

Game MVP: Kendal Daniels

Uniform: Black (Pistol Pete), Orange, White

Thoughts: PFB is Marshall Law so he gets to go at this first and stole my plan of riding the 27-point train. But I do think the offense (and maybe even the run game) gets going quicker Saturday to put a few more points on the board.

Although I think the offense is a little more fluid, I still can’t predict any offensive player to be MVP until an offensive player actually gets the chances to do enough to make that happen. Daniels is also due a big turnover, and South Alabama’s quarterback has thrown at least one interception in every game so far.

I’ve been 2-2 so far on uni combos via Twitter (X? Whatever). Now I can probably get one wrong for the first time since it’s in writing, but OSU is due some black and Pistol Pete in 2023.
