PFB Picks: Predictions for Oklahoma State’s Week 6 Game against West Virginia
Predictions for the score, game MVP and OSU’s uniform combo.
The Cowboys are back at Boone Pickens Stadium and are in desperate need of a win.
After starting Big 12 play 0-2, Oklahoma State hosts West Virginia at 3 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. Here’s how the PFB staff sees this one playing out.
Marshall Scott
Score: Oklahoma State 28, West Virginia 24
Game MVP: Brennan Presley
Uniform: Black (Brand)-Orange-White
Thoughts: I think this game will show whether OSU’s issues are as big as they seem or whether these past two weeks have been a matter of OSU playing the conference’s upper echelon. I think OSU is going to win this game, but I will say, I’m far from certain. It was difficult to pick an MVP because it’s hard to say OSU will figure out its running game, and quarterback Alan Bowman hasn’t played well the past two weekends. So, give me Brennan Presley as the catalyst in a game where OSU finds a way. I’m not sure that the OSU faithful will come away feeling great about how things went, but a W could do wonders considering how the past two weekends have gone.
Kyle Cox
Score: Oklahoma State 24, West Virginia 18
Game MVP: Ollie Gordon
Uniform: Black (Cursive Cowboys)-Black-Black
Thoughts: I picked the Cowboys to lose to Kansas State (not get blown out) because the Wildcats looked like the better team coming into last weekend, which proved to be true. The Mountaineers, thus far, have proven to be more the Cowboys’ speed. They are coming off a bye week, and the Pokes are heading into their own, but I think they do enough to break their skid. I will continue to pick Ollie Gordon as my MVP until he rushes for 100 yards against more than an FCS team. What a disastrous statement to be making in October.
Dekota Gregory
Score: Oklahoma State 31, West Virginia 27
Game MVP: Ollie Gordon
Uniform: Orange (Cursive Cowboys)-Black-Black
Thoughts: All week I planned on picking against OSU because I didn’t see anything the last two weeks to give me faith that this team can beat a Big 12 opponent. Then I remembered what happens when Mike Gundy magically waves his mullet over a team after a disappointing start (see 2023). The Mountaineers are also struggling, and OSU seems to have their number, for the most part. Also, in two games against WVU, Ollie Gordon has averaged 209 rushing yards. Gordon showed signs of 2023 early last week but was then starved of carries. Ollie gets the ball and OSU finally gets a Big 12 win.
