PFB Predictions: How the Staff is Predicting Oklahoma State vs. McNeese

Our picks for OSU’s home opener.

The Cowboys are in Stillwater for their home opener hosting the other Cowboys but not before the PFB staff lays out some predictions/told ya so fodder.

Oklahoma State is a 37.5-point favorite to go a perfect 12-0 against FCS opponents during Mike Gundy’s tenure so there shouldn’t be too many shocking answers to our first prediction but here goes.

Final Score

Kyle Porter — Oklahoma State 57 | McNeese 20: I think this offense is special. They put up 40 in the first half before cruising into Tulsa.

Kyle Boone — Oklahoma State 60 | McNeese 17: This is the worst team on OSU’s schedule this season and I don’t think it will be all that close. So the Pokes should cruise. I’m expecting a lot of walk-ons to see their first game action of the season.

Kyle Cox — Oklahoma State 48 | McNeese 21: I think the Pokes get off to a quick lead and that we see plenty of bench players play in the second half. The reason I still have OSU knocking on 50’s door is because I think Dru Brown will get to see the field and will be motivated to show what he’s got and less inclined to coast to a win.

Marshall Scott — Oklahoma State 63 | McNeese 14: Good teams win, great teams cover. Time to find out if OSU is 37.5 points greater than McNeese.

Steve Mandeville — Oklahoma State 56 | McNeese 24

Defender of the Game

Kyle Porter: Malcolm Rodriguez. He’ll be more acclimated to the new position after a game against a decent offense, and I’d expect double-digit tackles here.

Kyle Boone: Tre Sterling. I like what I saw in Game 1. He made a way bigger leap in the offseason than I anticipated, and I think he’s got the goods against McNeese — who is going to come in with a no-fear passing attack — to make some big plays on the back end of the OSU defense.

Kyle Cox: I’ll go with Trace Ford. The rookie will have a chance to continue to build confidence, and favor with the coaching staff, against a lesser opponent in his Stillwater debut.

Marshall Scott: Mike Scott. I think he’ll have a good shot at getting to the quarterback a lot against a lesser O-Line.

Steven Mandeville: MalRod – Double-digit tackles and loves the opportunity to dodge slower linemen and make more tackles.

Most Carries

Who ends the game with more carries? Chuba Hubbard or Spencer Sanders? (It’s McNeese)

Kyle Porter: Definitely Chuba. Gundy sounds like he’s going to ride him until he can no longer be ridden, and I presume that means more carries than we think against a team this bad.

Kyle Boone: LD Brown. If the game goes according to plan, Chuba will be under the neon palms by halftime with Spencer Sanders while Dru Brown and LD Brown captain the ship in the second half.

Kyle Cox: I’ll say Chuba because I want Spencer taking as few non-FBS hits as possible, but I’d like Gundy to be careful with play count for all three of the New Triplets when it comes to .

Marshall Scott: Chuba. He might score every time he touches it, leaving less possibilities on the table for Sanders.

Steven Mandeville: Spencer gets into the high teens and ends up with more carries after Gundy decides to really kick the tires on all of the backup running backs.
