PFB Predictions: Oklahoma State-Texas

Published

on

The Pokes and the Longhorns square off this Saturday in Austin, and we have some predictions about how this is going to go. Let’s get right to them.

Kyle Porter

Pick: Oklahoma State 45-28
Spread: Oklahoma State covers
Player of the Game: Jalen McCleskey

Texas struggles against the pass — they’re No. 105 in the country in yards per passing attempt allowed. Oklahoma State is No. 2 in the country in yards per passing attempt. That sounds like a bad recipe. I also think No. 1 is going to have a monstrous day. He had one of his four career 100-yard days last year against Texas, and with all the attention James Washington and Moss-ell Ateman have received in the last few weeks, I think McCleskey will shine.

Kyle Boone

Pick: Texas 38, OSU 35
Spread: Texas covers
Player of the Game: Mason Rudolph

OSU is catching Texas in a tough spot coming off a close loss to OU in a rivalry game. As the Horns return to home, I think they find their rhythm on the ground with Chris Warren and get enough big plays from QB Sam Ehlinger to upset OSU, despite a 3 TD day by Rudolph. Special teams gaffes, which has been OSU’s downfall all season, finally catch up with the Pokes in a stunner that shakes up the B12 race.

Hayden Barber

Pick: Oklahoma State 31-24
Spread: Texas covers
Player of the game: James Washington

This game screams ugly against a good Texas defense. With that, you have to turn to your top dog. And that makes sense because even in Washington’s worst game this season, he had 98 receiving yards.

Kyle Cox

Pick: Oklahoma State 38-24
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the Game: Marcell Ateman

The Cowboys will need to keep up the prolific play in the passing game and that will likely include several of its receivers having good days. I think Ateman has the biggest and has multiple scores.

Ryan Harris

Pick: Oklahoma State 42-27
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the Game: Jalen McCleskey

Oklahoma State will spread the ball around and get everyone involved on offense. Jalen McCleskey will have a big day as Texas tries to slow down James Washington and Marcel Ateman. The Pokes defense will play aggressive, trying to force Sam Ehlinger into some turnovers. This one will be close at the half before the Pokes pull away in the second half.

Matt Harris

Pick: Oklahoma State 38-24
Spread: Pokes cover
Player of the Game: Mason Rudolph

The Texas defense will hold the Pokes to less than they’re used to scoring, but Mason doesn’t make any major mistakes and the Texas offense will struggle to get much going. It’ll be a great atmosphere in Austin and should be an interesting game to watch but Pokes cover this one.

Nick Welch

Pick: Oklahoma State 31-20
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the Game: Marcell Ateman

The Longhorn defense is much improved from its early season debacles. Texas keeps it close, but lacks the firepower needed to catch-up to the Pokes with a banged up Ehlinger and missing Kyle Porter. Ateman pulls in some key 3rd down conversions to silence DKR and send Mason Rudolph and company back to Stillwater with the “W.”

Phillip Slavin

Pick: Oklahoma State: 34-24
Spread: Oklahoma State Covers
Player of the Game: Marcel Ateman

Texas does a good job against the OSU run game holding Justice Hill under 100 yards and OSU as a whole under 150. However, Texas gives up three big scoring plays, including two to Marcel Ateman who “grown mans” his way past a suspect Texas secondary. He and Washington have their fifth straight game with 100+ receiving yards each.

Justin Southwell

Pick: Oklahoma State 34-28
Spread: Oklahoma State does not cover
Player of the Game: Mr. President

Texas’ defense has been good at holding teams below their season average all season long, but they struggle against the pass. I fully expect OSU to take advantage of what the defense gives them. Air it out, baby.
