PFB Predictions: Oklahoma State-West Virginia

For the second straight week, there’s not a lot of faith in the Pokes.

With Game 11 on deck this Saturday in Stillwater and the final home tilt until, gulp, September 2019, it’s prediction time. Keep this in mind as we fill out our predictions: If Oklahoma State wins this weekend, it will mark just the fourth season (ever) in which they would have defeated at least two top 10 teams in the same year.

Kyle Porter: WVU 35 | OSU 27 — I think the emotional toll of last week is too great to overcome. I doubt anyone thinks that and certainly isn’t voicing it, but I think it will be apparent when OSU takes the field on Saturday. This has, a “Wait, this team beat Texas and nearly beat OU” first half written all over it.

Kyle Boone: OSU 38 | WVU 35 — This is the week. After losing by a combined 5 points in two consecutive losses, OSU notches a win over another top-10 team. It won’t serve as medicine for the soul that a Sooner stomping would have done a week ago, but it does give OSU bowl eligibility and its second top-10 win of the season (which makes zero sense).

Kyle Cox: WVU 45 | OSU 37 — I think the Pokes keep it close but the Mountaineers pack too much punch and Will Grier gets a little revenge against OSU. He had maybe his worst game against OSU last year. This time around I think he leads his team like he hasn’t forgot that and also hasn’t forgotten that he has a Heisman and CFP to play for.

Dustin Ragusa: WVU 42 | OSU 38 — I think Oklahoma State will be able to keep it close by pressuring Grier into some bad throws and creating turnovers. I also expect them to have success on the ground against the Mountaineers similar to how Iowa State did earlier this season. However, I think West Virginia busts a few too many big plays and the Cowboys suffer another heartbreaking loss.

Marshall Scott: WVU 42 | OSU 35 — I don’t think this is a good matchup for the Pokes. Will Grier brings a lot of experience compared to OSU’s youthful secondary. If OSU is going to have a chance they’ll need to get pressure on Grier. It’ll also take another herculean effort from Taylor Cornelius with a (potentially) banged up Justice Hill facing a defense that gave up -7 rushing yards last week.

Grant Newton: OSU 37 |WVU 31 — Trap game for the Mountaineers, and the Pokes have nothing to lose. Two weeks ago, WVU went on the road to defeat Texas in an all-timer. Next week they get the Sooners. Great opportunity for the Cowboys to snatch another top-10 win in Boone Pickens.
