PFB Roundtable: Weeden, Randle Top Our All-Time Favorite Cowboys Lists

Published

on

For this week’s roundtable, let’s steal an idea from Twitter. Fill in your all-time favorite OSU player for each position. (Not necessarily the best.) And then pick one of them and give a line or two about why he is your favorite.

Kyle Porter

QB – Brandon Weeden
RB – Joe Randle
WR – Dez Bryant
TE – Alonzo Mayes
OL – Russell Okung
DL – Richetti Jones
LB – Andre Sexton
CB – Justin Gilbert
S – Markelle Martin
ST – Prentiss Elliot

I think we underrate the (very) short-lived but (extremely insane) Prentiss Elliott era in Stillwater, USA. He was Justin Gilbert before Justin Gilbert but more gifted with the football. Maybe Dez before Dez. He could have been anything he wanted. Man, I loved watching him play.

Kyle Cox

QB – Brandon Weeden
RB – Tatum Bell
WR – Rashaun Woods
TE – Brandon Pettigrew
OL – Lane Taylor
DL – Emmanuel Ogbah
LB – Ryan Simmons
CB – Justin Gilbert
S – Donovan Woods
ST – R.W. McQuarters

I went with Tatum Bell as my favorite running back for mostly nostalgic reasons. Obviously, he’s not the best ever at OSU, but when he was there he was a super star. Favorite memory was his late TD against Southern Miss that would seal the deal in the Houston Bowl.

Adam Lunt

QB – Brandon Weeden
RB – Joseph Randle
WR – Dez Bryant
TE – Zac Veatch
OL – Marcus Keyes
DL – Kevin Williams
LB – Donald Booker
CB – Broderick Brown
S – Markelle Martin
ST – Dan Bailey

I’ll play. Lucien Antoine was extremely hard to leave off of this list.

Phillip Slavin

QB – J.W. Walsh
RB – Joseph Randle
WR – Rashaun Woods
TE – Brandon Pettigrew
OL – Russell Okung
DL – Emmanuel Ogbah
LB – Orie Lemon
CB – Perrish Cox
S – Markelle Martin
ST – Justin Gilbert

I picked Rashaun Woods at receiver, because 2003 was my freshman year at Oklahoma State, and I will never forget sitting in the common room on my floor in Kerr-Drummond watching him set the record for most receptions in a game against Rice. Plus, I remember how much OU fans feared Woods anytime Josh Fields threw the ball in his general direction. I’ll always be disappointed he didn’t have a long and successful NFL career.

Kyle Boone

QB – Brandon Weeden
RB – Justice Hill
WR – Josh Stewart
TE – Blake Jarwin
OL – Zach Crabtree
DL – Emmanuel Ogbah
LB – Ryan Simmons
CB – Justin Gilbert
S – Markelle Martin
ST – Tyreek Hill

Weeden was ea$y money for QB spot. As for the rest, I’m going full recency bias and embracing it. No one cuts like Justice Hill, and I’m the sole shareholder of his Hei5man stock. So he was an easy pick at RB. My only controversial pick I might cede, Crabtree at OL, is justified by him being an easy, friendly interview each time we chatted. We talked McGregor vs. Mayweather once for like an hour. Was fantastic.
