(PFB+) Two 2022 Prospects Garret Rangel Wants to Join Him in Stillwater
Rangel has his sights set on two players he’s already recruiting.
It’s still early, but with a quarterback set in Oklahoma State’s 2022 class, things could start to move quickly.
Garret Rangel committed to OSU on Friday. Quarterbacks can often turn into the lead player-recruiter of a given class, and though Rangel said he already has some guys in mind who he wants to join him in Stillwater. Rangel pointed out two guys to PFB who he is going to go after with his newfound home: Avyonne Jones and Hunter Erb.
Jones is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound corner from Southlake, Texas. Jones and Rangel go back to kindergarten, as Rangel lived in Southlake before starring at Frisco-Lone Star.
Jones isn’t yet ranked, but don’t let that shy you away from him as a prospect. Before Rangel’s silent commitment, Jones already had offers from Arizona, Tennessee and, of course, Oklahoma State. February has sent Jones’ process into overdrive, as he has picked up offers from Kansas State, Arkansas, Tulsa, Houston, Colorado, SMU, New Mexico, Utah State and Wisconsin.
The Cowboys’ staff offered Jones on Dec. 16.
Erb is a massive 6-foot-6, 305-pound offensive tackle from Eaton High School in Haslet, Texas who recently committed to Texas A&M.
Like Jones, Erb isn’t ranked yet, but Erb’s offer sheet says that won’t be the case for long. Erb has offers from Oklahoma, USC, Oregon, Baylor, Michigan State, Colorado, TCU and others.
Erb was uncommitted when Rangel silently committed, but Erb’s recent commitment to a school with the resources of A&M will likely make it difficult for OSU to make any headway there.
