Poll Question Tuesday: Is Oklahoma State Going to Make the NCAA Tournament?

Published

on

Following their 84-79 win at Kansas, Oklahoma State now probably just needs to win four of the final eight games on the Big 12 slate to go dancing in March. Even crazier, a win on Tuesday at home against Baylor would mean OSU is just one game back of fourth-place OU in the Big 12 race.

So today’s poll question seems an obvious one: Will OSU make it to March Madness?

It’s pretty easy to get caught up in the hyperbole following a big-time performance like the Pokes put on Saturday. But this team still has flaws. A lot of them, actually.

It also has an optimistic head coach.

“You know I don’t try to get into the big picture as much,” Mike Boynton said after the win on Saturday. “Yes, I was a part of that (surge last year at the end of the Big 12). We had a totally different team. We had a little guy (Jawun Evans) who plays for the (Los Angeles) Clippers now, who was running the show for us. So it kind of made a difference.

“At the same time, I think this team can compete with anybody. I think we have the group and the type of people in our locker room who can come together through anything and have success. We’ve shown that we play really well in some tough environments, even last week when we didn’t come out with a win, we were really competitive. As far as the big picture, I like to think we can be a team that continues to play for a long time but I want my guys to just focus on the moment. Right now, they need to just enjoy this win, because not very many people have come in here and done that.”

Leave your comments and thoughts below, and we’ll get to them later in the week.
