Predictions on Where In-State Standout Trace Ford Will Commit Friday

Published

on

In-state defensive end prospect Trace Ford, a highly-touted three-star recruit with close to 20 total scholarship offers, will make his college commitment on Friday morning.

Ford will be picking between a top 8 that includes Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Florida State, Baylor and others, but all signs point to it coming down to a two-team race between the Razorbacks and Pokes.

Though Ford, an Edmond Santa Fe star, hasn’t named a favorite throughout his recruitment, the belief is that OSU is in the catbird seat. He visited campus back in June, right around the same time he made a visit to Arkansas for its Woo Pignic alongside fellow in-state pass-rusher Collin Clay.

OSU has commitments along its defensive line for the 2019 cycle in Isreal Isuman-Hundley, Kody Walterscheid, Jayden Jernigan and Xavier Ross, but the Pokes have been holding out for Ford in the event he chooses Oklahoma State. That’s reason enough to believe that, entering Friday, OSU likely has a leg up given the fact that there aren’t anymore current targets that have emerged to fill that final spot.

Let’s get to our predictions.

Boone: Oklahoma State. There’s been some whispers for weeks that he favors Oklahoma State, so barring a major surprise (Missouri State romping OSU by 40?), Ford is probably OSU-bound.

Ragusa: Oklahoma State. Proximity to home is in favor of OSU, and he’s said that’s who he rooted for growing up. So I think he picks the Pokes.
