Recapping Oklahoma State’s Big Recruiting Weekend

Published

on

Oklahoma State hosted a slew of visitors on campus this weekend for the final summer mini-camp, where prospects could show off their talents and do their best to make an impression. According to Scout’s Robert Allen, 176 campers made their way to Stillwater Saturday. Here’s a recap of some of the big names who notably made it to OSU:

Quarterbacks

MJ Rivers (2018) — MJ is the son of former OSU and NFL tight end Marcellus Rivers, and is making a return trip from a visit just less than a month ago. The 6-4, 210-lb. prospect has really good size and could move to an athlete position at the next level. As of now, he has one scholarship offer from Iowa State. I wouldn’t expect that to be the same for long.

Tanner Mordecai (2018) — Mordecai is one of the top prospects in Texas in the 2018 class, so having him on campus this weekend is a pretty big deal. He already has an offer from the Pokes, so he’s wanting more than just a scholly, which is a good sign that the coaches are still building that foundation with him. Notably Houston, SMU, OSU, and Texas Tech have offered the 6-2 dual threat from Waco.

Jace Ruder (2018) — Another dual-threat guy who made the trip, Ruder is a pretty polished prospect from Norton, KS, with offers from Bowling Green, Kansas State, Tulsa, Toledo, and a few small schools. With OSU recruiting the state of Kansas well in the past, are they planning to dip back into familiar territory with Ruder?

Jordan Flowers (2017) — This 2017 prospect from Omaha, NE, has zero listed offers but has a pretty good size 6-1, 190-lb. frame.

BJ Greene (2018) — The same said for Flowers can be said for Greene — zero listed offers and, according to his HUDL, is a bit small for a QB at just 5-foot-9. Being a 2018 recruit, OSU could be looking to recruit him as an athlete at the next level.

Running backs

Devonte Lee (2018) — If you don’t yet know the name, you will soon. Lee is a rising junior from OKC’s John Marshall, and has the size and skill to develop into one of the best prospects in the state. He’s a bruiser at running back and is drawing high level interest. OSU is one of those.

Kameron Session (2017) — Session is a Mansfield Legacy running back with great speed, and not great size. No offers yet for the Texas high school, but he’s had good production in Texas preps.

Cameron Jones (Norman North — 2017) — Jones is an in-state guy from Norman North with pretty decent size. There’s not much film out there, but he’s had a productive career statistically for the Norman area high school.

Others

Marcus Mays (Tulsa Edison — 2017) — Among the in-state guys, Mays is a big sleeper in the ’17 class. He recently committed to Memphis, but you’d have to assume if an offer came, it could alter his thoughts about moving out of state for school.

David Anenih (2017) — This is one of OSU’s top targets on the board at defensive end in the ’17 class. Anenih is a big-time Mansfield Timberview prospect with already 11 offers. The Cowboys would do best to close early, before he becomes a national recruit. At 6-3, 220, he has the tools to become an elite end.

James Palmer (2018) — Palmer is a big talent from Westmoore at tight end, who the Cowboys are pursuing heavily. He’s already been offered, so having him back for a return trip is a big deal. He seems to be taking a liking to cowboy backs coach Jason McEndoo.

Nick Morman (2018) — Morman is a Covington, LA defensive back prospect. Being from Covington, that’s home of the fighting Jalen Mccleskey’s. He took a pic with some of the talented Louisianimals on the squad:

Receivers / ATH

Tre’Von Bradley (2017) — Bradley has one listed offer and could be in for many more before his recruitment ends. He’s a speedster from Cleburne, TX, whom Tulsa has already jumped aboard with.

Jaiden Cole (2017) — Cole is a big-time four-star recruit from Monroe, LA, with offers from Arkansas, Arizona State, OSU, Houston, and others. OSU has been recruiting Cole for awhile, but getting him on campus could go a long way to luring him west of his home. Arkansas figures to be his current favorite.

Taye Barber (2018) — Barber is a dual-threat QB who the Cowboys like at receiver/ATH, especially with his 5-10 frame. He’s a burner from Cypress Springs, and OSU is making a big push for him early. He has offers from Houston, SMU, and Fresno State. From my early observation, I think it will be tough to pull him out of state.

Cecil Cole (2018) — Cole is a rising 2018 guy from Del City who made an impression during the mini-camp. He’s got good size at 6-1, and could be a guy to keep an eye on in Oklahoma recruiting moving forward.
