The Reload: JD King Solid with OSU, New JUCO Offer and hoops news

The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

Oklahoma State offers elite JUCO Defensive End

OSU offered junior college defensive end Michael Clemons on Wednesday. Clemons is a 6-6, 240-pound specimen playing for Cisco College — and originally from Sachse, Texas.

Clemons has offers from Arkansas, K-State, Mizzou, Tennessee, Ole Miss and others. With one of OSU’s current DE commits potentially wavering on his commitment to OSU, Clemons becomes a top target for the Cowboys looking to solidify the DE position before signing day.

OSU offers 6-foot-10 power forward Will Baker

Brad Underwood made an offer deep into the future on Wednesday with Will Baker, a 2019 power forward from James Bowie High School picking up his second Div. I offer.

Baker is a 6-foot-10 prospect who was recently offered by Texas A&M, as well.

JD King Remains Solid despite interest

“Multiple schools from Power 5 conferences have asked if he would entertain the thought of decommiting from Oklahoma State if they were to offer, but he has been rock solid to OSU,” JD King’s coach, Jesse Lynch told Recruit Georgia recently. “He and Oklahoma State RBs coach Marcus Arroyo have a really good relationship, and Stillwater has a similar feel to that of Fitzgerald.”

King is one of the most heralded running backs in Georgia high school football history, with 4,268 career rushing yards and 52 touchdowns in his career.

Said recruiting analyst Barry Every: “King is the engine of the Fitzgerald offensive attack; an every down back with soft hands. This young man thrives on contact as he punishes defenders trying to bring him down. King goes out of his way to lower the shoulder on a defender wearing down his opponents as the game progresses. At this time he is verbally committed to Oklahoma State but it would not surprise me if some major FBS colleges in the southeast try to pry him away.”

Collin Sexton’s tie with Jawun Evans

I wrote earlier today that Collin Sexton’s final college decision could come down to whether Jawun Evans elects to stay at OSU or head to the NBA. It’s worth noting that OSU getting an official visit in the first place is a huge deal. Sexton is regarded as one of, if not THE, best scorer in the country. And that says a lot, considering he will play point guard at the next level. He has an ability to handle the ball and make quick decisions in the open floor with ease, and knows how to create his own shot and scores at a high level.

At the moment, Alabama is actually considered the front runner to land him, thanks in large part to Avery Johnson’s recruiting efforts before he blew up in recruiting this year. But OSU getting an official visit from Sexton means he has the Pokes in his top group — and Underwood has a big opportunity to make an impression this weekend.
