The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

New Offensive Line Offers

The first offensive line offer went to St. Louis, Mo. 2017 offensive guard Larry Boyd. Boyd is ranked as the No. 1 guard prospect in the state by Scout.com and at 6-foot-5, 310-pounds, it’s no surprise he has 14 offers that come from the likes of Arkansas, Wisconsin, Mizzou and others. Boyd announced the offer on twitter:

Although Boyd is a Missouri prospect, I get the feeling that he may be looking to play out of state. And having Boyd on campus in early March of this year, I think the new offer really puts the Cowboys in the mix.

As for what he’s looking for in a school, he told Scout.com that he wants a”family based environment and wherever I feel at home, education comes first but where the environment is about family.”

The second offer that went out landed in the hands of Beaumont, Texas prospect Dan Moore Jr. Moore is a 2017 6-foot-5, 315-lb. prospect who is just recently seeing his recruitment take off. Just this week he’s picked up offers from Mizzou, Colorado State, Mississippi State, Lamar, Southeastern Louisiana, New Mexico, and OSU.

With his biggest offers arguably from Missouri and OSU and OSU being relatively close geographically, again I think OSU is in good position at this point. Partly because they’re getting in on him early in his recruitment process.

The third O-line offer went to Weatherford, TX prospect Zach McKinney. McKinney is an O-line/D-line guy and I believe this is an offer as a defensive tackle.

He’s a 6-foot-4, 300-pound banger who does most of his damage on defense. Like Moore, OSU is getting in on him early, which has paid off for the Pokes a lot recently.

Note on weekend offer

2017 athlete Lakendrick VanZandt picked up an offer over the weekend from OSU following one of the satellite camps, and I presumed as a safety given his 6-foot-1 frame. VanZandt plays a little running back, wildcat quarterback, cornerback and safety. However I have confirmed that OSU has extended VanZandt an offer as a wide receiver. His season was cut short due to injury, however he impressed coaches over the weekend with offers from TCU, OSU, Houston and Memphis all over the weekend.

2017 Cornerback Planning Visit

Nacogdoches defensive back Josh Thompson, who recently picked up an OSU offer, announced on twitter that he is planning to visit OSU at some point over the summer. Along with Houston, TCU and Texas Tech, the Cowboys will receive an unofficial visit presumably toward the end of June. Thompson’s favorite player is Justin Gilbert, which he says makes OSU great in his eyes. I think it’ll come down to a Big 12 battle between TCU, Texas Tech and OSU for the up-and-coming junior.

Another Wide Receiver Offer

Along with VanZandt, OSU has also extended a scholarship to Gilmer, TX  wide receiver LaMarcus Morton.

Morton is a 2017 prospect and, as you can see above, already has 17 offers which include Houston, Texas Tech, Memphis, Indiana and Colorado State. Gilmer is a traditionally talent-rich school in Texas where OSU hasn’t found much success recruiting. So perhaps OSU can establish a presence in the area, and landing Morton would be an excellent start.

More on weekend visitors

As reported on Sunday, five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson of Houston made a visit to Stillwater and brought several crew members with him. Although there hasn’t been an update as to the details of the visit, one of the visiting prospects, 2018 receiver Jaylen Waddle, did post this intriguing video on twitter:

Waddle also made a visit with Wilson to Norman on Saturday before heading to Stillwater, where he picked up an offer from the Sooners. Waddle will be a name in 2018 to keep an eye on. As of now, he has three offers: Houston, OU, and Ole Miss.
