The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, which will catch you up to speed on events surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting with an ear to the ground on what to expect in the near future.

Oklahoma State Offers 2019 Quarterback Grant Gunnell

The coaching staff made their way around H-town this week and, during their recruitment, made an offer to 2019 quarterback Grant Gunnell of St. Pius X (Texas). Gunnell is a physical specimen at 6-6, 180-pounds, and fits the exact mold of what Yurcich loves in his quarterbacks: Tall, elusive, and athletic.

In 2015, he was named a MaxPreps freshman all-american. He finished last season with 1,447 passing yards and 23 total touchdowns to go with 305 rushing yards, per statistics from MaxPreps.

“The offensive coordinator [Mike Yurcich] came up to school and told my head coach they were offering me, then my coach told me,” Gunnell told Pistols Firing. “I was super pumped when I heard the news and I called my parents and let them know about it!”

OSU became Gunnell’s second scholarship offer on Thursday, joining Texas State. But with his on field production and huge season with a high ceiling, there’s no doubt he’s likely to see more coming his way before his recruitment ends.

JD King is really, really strong

You want validation that Oklahoma State running back commit JD King is an absolute beast?

You could watch his film.

But if you want more validation, check out this video one of his coaches at Fitzgerald posted to twitter of him cleaning a massive amount of weight. 360-pounds on cleans! More than quadruple my bench press! (Kidding, kind of.)

Oklahoma State Offers 2017 Shawnee Lineman

Shawnee, Okla. offensive lineman Creed Humphrey, who has blown up on the recruiting trail of late, finally picked up an offer from OSU on Thursday which he posted to twitter.

Humphrey has offers from OU, Texas, Texas A&M, and many others. He’s an elite, thumping lineman who likely projects as a center at the next level. At 6-4, 300-pounds, he’s an absolute mauler in the trenches.

2017 defensive ends pick up offers

Nelson Mbanasor of Pflugerville, Texas, and Ondario Robinson of Hutto, Texas, both reported offers from the Cowboys.

Mbanasor is a 6-3, 250-pound prospect and Robinson, who has offers from Georgia, Arizona State, and others, is a 6-4, 235-pound d-end. Both are very highly touted prospects with an impressive recruiting pedigree.

Underwood pursuing 2016 big man?

According to a report from OrangePower.com, Underwood may be in pursuit of 2016 big man Marlon Jones, a 6-9 junior college power forward. According to Rivals and 247sports, it does not appear the Cowboys have extended an offer, although with basketball recruiting things seem to evolve much quicker than with football and reporting isn’t always accurate. So while the Cowboys did add 2016 big man Lucas N’Guessan, perhaps Jones, someone with experience playing at the next level in junior college, could be an immediate contributor and may free up N’Guessan to spend some time developing under a redshirt.
