Another Cowboy will enter the transfer portal, but it looks like this one will at least play out the rest of the season.

Grant Seagren, an offensive tackle who transferred from Nebraska and has started the last seven games for Oklahoma State, will try his hand at free agency this coming offseason, according to a report from On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos.

It appears that Seagren is intent on finishing out the season with the Cowboys, potentially (at least partially) to put more quality snaps on film for his upcoming recruitment.

Seagren came to Stillwater last offseason after starting his career as a walk-on at Nebraska. After a redshirt season in 2023, Seagren appeared in seven games for the Cornhuskers in 2024.

He played in the Cowboys’ season opener against UT-Martin on special teams plays only, but when starting left tackle Markell Samuel was injured during the hotel walk-through ahead of the Oregon game, Seagren was thrust into the starting role.

And he hit the ground running.

“He’s gotten so much better, and he is a massive individual,” interim head coach Doug Meacham said earlier this month. “He’s got a bright future ahead of him. Really like what he’s doing. …

“I think he’s all in, and I think he knows what his future is and what he might could be doing in three years. And he’s got the measurables. He’s massive.”

Listed at 6-foot-6 and 311 pounds on OSU’s roster, he is massive. The question is whether or not the next coaching staff can keep him on the roster next year.
