Report: Former Oklahoma State Quarterback Zane Flores Commits to Iowa State
Flores finds a home in Ames.
The Cowboys will get reunited with their former QB in just a few months.
Former Oklahoma State quarterback Zane Flores committed to conference rival Iowa State, according to a report by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. Flores spent the past three seasons in Stillwater, his once-promising career largely hampered due to injury. He’ll get a chance to help the reboot in Ames.
Flores came to Oklahoma State as a three-star prospect in the 2023 class. After a redshirt season in 2023, he received a medical hardship waiver thanks to a lower body injury in 2024. Flores entered 2025 QB2 to incoming TCU transfer Hauss Hejny. When Hejny went down early in Week 1 due to injury, Flores took over.
In 2025, Flores appeared in nine games and started eight but missed extended time with his own injury during OSU’s early trip to Arizona. Flores’ best game came in his return from injury on a trip to Kansas. He went 22-for-28 (78.6%) for 235 yards and two TDs to no interceptions. On the season, he totaled 1,490 yards and three touchdowns to seven interceptions while completing 59.8% of his passes. He also added two rushing scores.
Flores heads to Iowa State in the wake of Matt Campbell’s departure and is looking to help rebuild the program. He would have three years of eligibility for new head coach Jimmy Rogers to work with. The Cowboys will visit the Cyclones in 2026.
Flores entered the portal last month and was one of four OSU quarterbacks to do so, along with Hejny, Banks Bowen and Mason Schubert. The Cowboys have added North Texas transfer Drew Mestemaker — the FBS leader in passing — as well as incoming high school commits from Brodie Vehrs, Luke Tepas and Hunter Trusler.
