One of the most mourned losses in the transfer portal has signed with a conference foe.

Former Oklahoma State edge rusher Wendell Gregory will continue his career in the Little Apple. Gregory has signed with Kansas State, according On3’s Pete Nakos.

Gregory came to the Cowboys ahead of 2025 from South Carolina, just in time for his breakout. He had three sacks in the Cowboys’ season opener against UT-Martin, providing a rare spark for OSU fans during a dreary season that just got drearier.

The redshirt freshman went on to earn Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year and All-Big 12 third team honors thanks to a team-leading four sacks and his 12 tackles for loss. That was the most of any FBS freshman. He also logged 27 total tackles, seven QB hurries, a pass breakup and a forced fumble.

Gregory was as a four-star prospect out of high school and the No. 179 played in the 2024 class according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He played in just two games at South Carolina in a redshirt season, so he heads to Manhattan with three years of eligibility remaining.

Eric Morris and staff have done yeoman’s work to refill the empty holes in OSU’s roster via the transfer portal. OSU has landed commitments from eight transfers along its defensive line alone, including the likes of North Texas sack leader Keviyan Huddleston and Florida State transfer James Williams.

Gregory and the Wildcats will host his former team this fall.
